Good Medical Practice - shape the GMC guidance

Leeds LMC is hosting an event with the GMC to give all those working in general practice an opportunity to learn about the proposed changes to the GMC's Good Medical Practice and to help shape the outcome.
The review is focusing on four main areas:
- Tackling discrimination and promoting fairness and inclusion
- Working in partnership with patients and the responsibility for professionals to help patients make decisions for themselves
- Working effectively with colleagues
- Leadership and organisational culture
The event will also focus on balancing competing rights and interests - and discuss new wording in the proposed guidance for access to treatment and care. We will ask for thoughts on the impact of the new proposed duty and discuss barriers and enablers to support further development of information that can be provided alongside the next version of good medical practice.
The consultation discussion gives a chance to provide anonymous feedback to the team who are developing the new good medical practice and you can access the full draft of the guidance prior to the session and give feedback on a broader range of themes by accessing the GMC website

In addition to discussing the consultation, the GMC team will also be delivering training on their Confidentiality Guidance to support best practice in handling patient information, something that is relevant for all those working in general practice.
