Pastoral Support

A core part of the role of Leeds LMC is pastoral support.

As the pressures within practice ever increases there is a growing need for this.

We are delighted to offer support to GPs directly through the LMC.  We are also able to offer support via some of our former LMC chairs who have offered their time and experience to the LMC.

If you are in distress or you are worried about a colleague, please do call us. If we can't help we normally know where to help signpost to and there are quite a few other little known organisations available that we work with.

Below is a link to a useful online resource developed by colleagues from the Somerset LMC for GPs seeking help and support with professional challenges.

NHS GP Health Service

The GP health service is a new confidential NHS service for GPs and GP trainees in England. It was launched in January 2017 and can help with issues relating to mental health, including stress, depression or addiction, where these might affect a GP’s work. The service operates on a self-referral basis and is provided by health professionals specialising in mental health support to doctors. Please note the service is not for emergency or crisis issues, which should be directed to mainstream NHS services, but it is available at locations across England.
